Des omégas 3 canadiens de poissons ou d’algues

Canadian omega 3 from fish or algae

Consumption of omega 3 is essential for balanced health. It is a fact ! Our body does not know how to produce them.

Fortunately, omega 3 food supplements exist. They provide a great service, both to those who experience certain symptoms such as inflammation and mood disorders, and to those who seek to preserve their health.

Local products to meet our needs

Nutra Sea is a Canadian company based in Nova Scotia. She also has Nutra Végé under her wing. Together, they offer two ranges of omega 3. The first from a marine source and the second from a plant source. Omega 3 from fish is presented in its natural form of triglycerides and is efficiently absorbed by the body. The plant source, for its part, comes from an algae, Schizochytrium spp. It provides a mixture of EPA/DHA in a 1:2 ratio, i.e. 150 mg of EPA and 300 mg of DHA per serving.

These animal and vegetable oil formulas are available in capsule or liquid form. You can choose them both in normal or extra-strength concentration, with or without vitamin D (D3 from sheep's wool for the fish oil-based formula and lichen for the plant-based formula). The marine formula is also offered in a concentration adapted to the health needs of children.

Why consume omega 3 enriched with vitamin D?

Omega 3 and vitamin D3 are necessary for the normal production of serotonin, the feel-good hormone. A lack of serotonin is directly linked to certain mood disorders and depression. Moreover, researchers suggest that a lack of vitamin D during early brain development could lead to a risk of neuropsychiatric disorders. Thus, vitamin D supplementation could prevent certain brain dysfunctions.

A detailed look at the ingredient list

The omega 3 label of Nutra Sea and Nutra Végé shows the presence of several antioxidant compounds protecting the oils. It includes green tea extract, containing less than 5 mcg of caffeine per serving, and tocopherols (vitamin E, 10 to 15 mg per serving).

In its approach to transparency, Nutra Sea does not hide the fact that soy is an important source of tocopherols used for fish oils and that its products may contain some.

The gelatin used to make the capsules is of bovine origin in the case of fish-based formulas. As for algae-based formulas, the capsule is completely plant-based.

We always invite you to read the ingredient lists carefully in order to be fully aware of what you are consuming.

Nutra Sea and Nutra Végé products are available online and in store.
