Ingredients for the broccoli bacon salad

1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
½ red onion, thinly sliced
4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
¼ cup sunflower seeds

Ingredients for the dressing

⅓ cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tsp maple syrup or honey
Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation for the broccoli and bacon salad recipe

In a pot of salted boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for 1 minute. Drain and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to preserve color and crunch. Drain again.

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, yogurt, vinegar, and maple syrup. Season with salt and pepper.

In a large bowl, combine broccoli, red onion, bacon, and sunflower seeds.

Pour the dressing over the salad and toss well to coat all ingredients.
