A precursor to glutathione, N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is a fundamental antioxidant that scientific studies show can reduce free radicals. NAC acts favorably on lung tissue, the immune system, cell health and longevity. Relationship between NAC and glutathione

Glutathione is essential to the antioxidant-based defense system. Indeed, a good level of glutathione protects the body against atherosclerosis, cataracts, macular degeneration and certain liver diseases. Although some dietary supplements contain glutathione, it is still preferable to take a precursor, such as NAC.
