Terebenthin is in the form of oleoresin, yellow or brownish color depending on the origin of the tree (most often softwood) of which it is extracted. By distillation, the essential oil of Terebenthin is obtained. There are different types of turpentine depending on the origin of the tree it comes from. This comes from the maritime pine, a tree native to the Mediterranean basin up to 30 meters high and live up to 500 years. Quite common in France, Spain, Italy and Portugal, it is easily identifiable by its reddish and black bark that crevices over time.

Trébenthin essential oil is used to temporarily relieve joint and muscle pain associated with back pain, bruises, pulling, sprains and arthritic pain.
