Geranium Bourbon essential oil is used in aromatherapy to help relieve premenstrual tension (PMS) and menopausal symptoms as well as colds and coughs.

Bourbon’ designates the region in which the cultivar, Pelargonium graveolens aka Pelargonium asperum, is grown, namely Madagascar and on Réunion Island (France). It is regularly used in the making of perfume with its soft rose floral notes. The essential oil is derived from the leaves not the flowers.

Posology

Topic (Adults): Mix 1 to 5 drops in 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) of vegetable oil; Apply locally on the affected part 3 times a day. Inhalation (respiratory system): Add 4 to 12 drops in a bowl of boiling water or a diffuser. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5-10 minutes.
