In addition to its benefits for structural support, researchers have examined the effects of this vitamin on the health of teeth, colon and tits, cell abnormalities, on the nervous system, on the immune system, etc. The vitamin D is normally obtained in the diet or produced by the skin from the ultraviolet energy of the sun, but it is not found in small quantities in the food.
