The role of vitamin K2
To strengthen bones, vitamin K2 is essential. Vitamin K acts by regulating the calcium metabolism by the body and helps to direct it towards the parts of the body where it is necessary, like the skeleton, and to divert the systems where it could have a negative effect, for example the Arteries and cardiovascular apparatus. There are two main forms of vitamin K2:the MK-4 and the MK-7. Although both are effective in improving bone health, the MK-7 is the natural form of vitamin K, that is used by the body. The MK-7 is better absorbed and remains in the body longer, which means that its effective dose is far below that of the MK-4.

Green leafy vegetables usually provide vitamin K intake to a majority of Canadians. However, many supposed foods rich in vitamin K have been revealed to be much less than thought.
