Lady of eleven o'clock:the breach flower of comfort If scientists call it "Star of Bethlehem", "Ornithogal in Ombelle" or "Ornithogalum Umbellatum", amateur botanists like to nick the "Lady-d'Oh-hour". Why ? Simply because the flowers of this small spring plant, in the immaculate white color, do only open when the sun is at its culmination. They are closed by dusk or in rainy weather. Another peculiarity:its harmonious and stable geometry, this flower being the only one to count six petals. Very present in Europe, and particularly in France, the ornithogal in umbel blossoms particularly in clay soils. It is often found in the meadows and on the edges of the paths where it grows, tenderly rocked by the rays of the sun. It is also found as an ornamental plant in the gardens, because its star-shaped flowers are perfect ornaments. It develops in the form of umbels that appear from May. Each rod counts between 5 and 15 flowers. This oviforous bulb plant displays a size ranging from 10 to 30 cm in height depending on the environment in which it grows. Shadow and freshness participate in its growth, although its flowering is encouraged by the sun.
