Magnesium: what can this wonderful mineral do for you?

Magnesium is an important mineral that is involved in many of our physiological processes. Whether it's energy production, blood pressure regulation, muscle function, bone strength or gene maintenance, magnesium has its role to play.

Unfortunately, the fact is that most Canadians have an insufficient intake of this essential mineral. According to Health Canada, adult women need a daily intake of 310 to 320 mg of magnesium. During pregnancy this intake should increase to 350 mg per day. Adult men need 400 to 420 mg. Adding a quality magnesium supplement to your daily routine is a good way to meet your needs.

Food sources of magnesium include fiber-rich foods such as:

  • whole grains
  • squash
  • tef

Studies have shown that people whose diets are richer in magnesium have a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, stroke and heart failure than those who consume less.

Low magnesium levels have been linked to a variety of conditions, including osteoporosis, high blood pressure, blocked arteries, hereditary heart disease, and diabetes. Raising magnesium levels can help prevent constipation and indigestion. Magnesium has also been shown to be effective in preventing the onset or recurrence of symptoms of certain health problems, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, headaches, PMS, nerve pain, as well as in improving the mood and brain functions.

Bonjour ! Le magnésium citrate est une bonne forme à utiliser pour prévenir la constipation. De manière générale, les marques s’équivalent en termes de qualité.

Bonjour, quel est le meilleur magnésium pour contrer la constipation? Si possible me donner la compagnie, la sorte ainsi que la concentration. Ex: Sisu, citrate de calcium 250 mg
