DHA, an omega so useful for children
DHA (or ADH in French) is part of the omega 3 family. Omega 3, we often talk about, is essential for maintaining good health. But are we consuming enough?
Omegas in food
It is always important to point out that the food given to children often lacks omega 3, which is essential for many functions in the body which, moreover, cannot produce it. They are found in the fat of cold water fish such as mackerel, anchovies, sardines and tuna. They are also found in certain plants including flax, hemp, walnuts, camelina and canola oils.
Be careful of vegetable fats!
Note that the body needs to make an extra effort when using omegas of plant origin. It must transform the plant omega 3 ALA into omega 3 used by the body, EPA and DHA, and for this it must be supplied with good nutrients which are mainly provided by plants.
Omega 3 supplements
Generally speaking, omega 3 supplementation therefore ensures a good intake of these essential fats.
Why offer it to our child?
– Useful in brain development as a constituent of cell membranes. It is in fact the fat present in the greatest quantity in this organ.
– Promotes learning and cognitive processes.
– Through its ability to influence hormone and prostaglandin levels, it benefits children suffering from asthma by relieving inflammation.
– Useful for lubricating the skin and the mucous membrane of the colon and facilitates good elimination.
– May be beneficial for mental health.
– Valuable help for focus and attention disorders, which is not the least of the qualities given the large number of children concerned.
– Supports immunity and energy.
