Limit the damage of osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is defined as progressive wear and tear of the protective cartilages located at the ends of the bones. It is these cartilages that allow fluid joint mobility. Although it is devastating, with a healthy lifestyle, a healthy diet and the right natural products, you can limit its damage.
Osteoarthritis, a time bomb
Osteoarthritis is a disease that can be compared to a ticking time bomb. It is silent when it begins, but over time, it risks destroying the joint cartilages as well as their underlying structures.
The workers of our joints
Normally, joint cells, chondrocytes, ensure proper joint functioning through the maintenance and repair of cartilaginous tissues. To make these tissues, chondrocytes use various nutrients from food. Chondrocytes repair or replace the various components necessary for healthy joint mobility.
Of course, if the chondrocytes do not have the right working tools or if they are hampered in their task, they will not succeed. And so the problems begin. Several factors favor the slowing down or stopping of this work.
- Sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity
- Drop in sex hormones, during menopause or andropause for example
- Overweight or thin
- Excessive repetitive work
- Excess physical activity, as in elite athletes
- Dietary deficiencies or excesses
- Certain lifestyle habits, including smoking and alcohol
- Heredity
Good working conditions
The majority of these factors are controllable and can be corrected by anyone. The body is therefore just waiting to be placed in optimal conditions to maintain or repair damaged joint tissues. Studies have shown that people who make the effort to make the necessary changes and who provide the appropriate nutrients see some symptoms of osteoarthritis gradually improve. Just do it!
Collagen to the rescue
My naturopathic experience has shown me that the regular use of hydrolyzed collagen like that found in the range Land Art was an excellent starting point in a process aimed at reducing symptoms linked to osteoarthritis. Collagen has the advantage of having all the constituents necessary for joint maintenance or repair. When there is too much pain, collagen can be combined with anti-inflammatory components or plants such as those found in Collag-N Extra from the Land Art range.
