Basic chocolate chip cookie recipe
First, look for inspiration in any recipe available. Internet, book, magazine, whatever. This one comes from Recettes du Québec.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup soft butter
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 egg
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup milk (if needed)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a bowl, combine butter and brown sugar. Add egg and stir well.
In another bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
Stir dry ingredients into butter mixture. Mix well. If dough is too dry, add milk to bind.
Using two spoons, place the dough in small balls spaced 5 cm apart on a buttered baking sheet. Bake for 10 min, or until the cookies begin to brown. Cool and store in an airtight tin.
Vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe
If you don't eat animal products or by-products, you have to remove them! Here's how it works.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup plant-based spread or coconut oil
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 flax egg (1 tbsp. ground flax seeds in 2 tbsp. water, leave to soak for a few minutes)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (watch the packaging, many companies offer vegan options)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup vegetable drink (if required)
Preparation
Same as above, except for the butter on the baking sheet. Substitute it for soy spread or simply a non-stick sheet.
