Kamut, which means wheat in ancient Egyptian, is actually the commercial name of a Khorasan wheat cultivar (Triticum Turgidum) whose agrobiological culture must follow a specific and rigorous.

Khorasan wheat is an ancestor of hard wheat (it lacks 14 chromosomes compared to modern wheat). Its ear carries grains three times bigger than durum wheat.
